The same dynamic shows up in religion. For centuries, God has often been portrayed as an all-powerful male authority figure—a divine father in the sky. Yet New Thought invites us to look deeper. What if the Father Principle is not a person but a spiritual quality available within each of us? What if the wisdom, strength, courage, and direction we’ve been seeking “out there” are actually seeking expression through us? Jesus pointed to this possibility when he said, “The Father and I are one.” He wasn’t teaching dependence; he was teaching alignment.
