Volunteer at Unity

Since 1919, Unity San Francisco has been a beacon of progressive spirituality where you don’t just study a spiritual journey—you live it. Our doors are open to everyone—no exceptions, no exclusions—providing a supportive environment that celebrates diversity and honors the Divine Presence within you.

Ready to help us build a world that works for everyone? We invite you to explore these opportunities to serve, connect, and radiate your light within our community.

Welcome Team

A warm welcome often makes the difference in someone’s decision to join a spiritual community. At Unity SF, our Welcome Team is responsible for creating a space where everyone feels seen, comfortable, and at home. By providing a friendly face at the door and helping guests navigate the sanctuary, you help remove the “newcomer anxiety” and set the tone for the entire service. Your role is to ensure that our environment is as inclusive and accessible as our message.

Roles: Greeting guests at the entrance, assisting with seating, and helping newcomers find their way around our Page Street home.

Hospitality Team

We believe that some of the most important spiritual work happens after the service ends, over a cup of coffee. Sharing a meal or a simple snack is a powerful way to foster a true sense of belonging. Our Hospitality Team ensures that our fellowship hour is a warm, inviting space where people can connect, process the morning’s message, and build lasting friendships. If you enjoy hosting and want to help facilitate the “social heartbeat” of our community, this is where you belong.

Roles: Setting up the hospitality, serving refreshments, and assisting with the cleanup of our community hall.

Music Team

Music is a vital part of the Sunday Experience, designed to uplift the spirit and anchor the energy of the morning’s message. By joining the Unity Choir, you become part of a team dedicated to amplifying the themes of resilience and transformation through song. We invite all vocalists who have a passion for music and a desire to contribute to our high-vibration atmosphere to join us. No matter your skill level, if you love to sing, we welcome your voice.

Roles: Participating in choir rehearsals and performing during Sunday services and special community events.

Ways to Expand Your Impact

Answering the Call Your unique talents are a gift to this community. If you feel called to serve in a way that isn’t listed here—such as community outreach, specialized projects, or professional skills—we want to hear from you. We are always looking for new ways to expand our mission and would love to see how your vision can support the growth of Unity San Francisco.

Stepping into Leadership For those looking to take a more active role in our Sunday service, we offer leadership opportunities such as Platform Assisting. This role involves leading the congregation in prayer and affirmations during the service. To ensure alignment with our spiritual principles, these sacred leadership positions are reserved for Official Members of our community.

How to help: Reach out to our team to share your ideas, or Learn More About Membership to explore leadership roles.

  • Hayes Valley Neighborhood Association (HVNA): Join us in partnering with our local neighborhood association to keep Hayes Valley a safe, beautiful, and inclusive place for all residents and businesses.

  • San Francisco Food Bank: Help combat food insecurity in the Bay Area through warehouse sorting or food pharmacy programs.
